Portfolio - Eidolon

About this series:

The title of the series is Eidolon. It means; An idealized person or thing, or a specter or phantom. The series is about memory, and our tenuous grasp of our own memories and history. Each piece is approximately 54" wide by 72" long and hangs invisibly from the ceiling, as though it were its own being, a ghost. To create each piece, I first weave two canvases on a floor loom using a linen paper yarn. I then print a self portrait on one piece, and the image of a family member who had a significant impact on my life (good or bad). The canvases are then unwoven and then the two image are rewoven together for the final piece.
